Roosevelt, Stalin, and Churchill held their last international conference at Yalta, on the Black Sea coast. Although Germany was already ablaze, there was much to discuss - foremost, agreeing on plans for the next phase of the war. Several of the decisions made at the conference turned out to be of long-term importance. Germany was expected to collapse around the 1st of July. The leaders decided to weaken Japan before invading it. Roosevelt was prepared to bribe Stalin to enlist in the war against Japan. No one knew at the time that, because of the Americans' use of atomic bombs, the USSR's role in the war against Japan would be minuscule. In return for its joining the war in the Far East, the USSR was promised parts of Manchuria at China's expense. The leaders concluded the principle of partitioning Germany into spheres of control among four powers - the Soviet Union, Great Britain, the United States, and France.
